Mrs. Grimm is the former Executive Director for the Office of Health Care Quality for the Maryland’s Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, and was responsible for the oversight and monitoring of approximately 13,000 health care facilities and programs with regards to quality of care and both federal and state health care regulatory compliance. Between 1990 and early 2000, she held many different positions in the medical field, including Pediatric Intensive Care Nurse, Infection Control Practitioner, President of Geriatric Psychological Services’ Baltimore Division, and Nurse Coordinator for Clinical Drug Trials. While a law student at the University of Baltimore School of Law, Ms. Grimm served as a law clerk for Circuit Court Judge Robert E. Cahill, Sr. in the Baltimore County Circuit Court.
After obtaining her law degree in 2002 and her admission to the Maryland Bar that same year, she became involved in the legal side of the medical field, providing legal services for the Health Education Resource Organization (HERO), conducting mediation for the Maryland Commission for Human Relations, and taking on positions such as Nurse Attorney Risk Manager as well as the Executive Director for Risk Management, Patient Safety and Infection Control Programs.
These positions provided her with over 10 years of experience in managing claims and potential claims involving health care facilities, as well as participating in policy, procedure, and contract review for state wide agency departments and committees in response to regulatory changes, as well as providing regulatory guidance for individuals and providers. In addition to these responsibilities, she also takes time to instruct new law school graduates in the Maryland Bar Review. Ms. Grimm is actively involved in the pro bono representation of clients for Maryland Volunteer Legal Services.
