One of the biggest issues affecting employee training is the inability of employees to retain information. You can put together a comprehensive training program, but within one or two weeks participants can already have lost more than half of the information they’ve learned.
So, how do you create a training experience that more employees will retain for a longer time? Let’s look at two ways online training can help solve this problem.
It’s harder than you might think to engage all employees with a single training program.
In a traditional classroom setting, if you cover too much information that a number of your employees already know, they will become disinterested and be less receptive when new information does come up. On the other hand, if you skip too much basic information, you may leave other employees behind.
Hosting your training programs online is a great way to get the best of both worlds. With online training programs, each user can have a unique, self-driven experience, while covering the same information as everyone else.
Talking through bullet points or showcasing a PowerPoint presentation is not enough to engage your audience. To ensure that your employees are keeping up with the training session, take regular breaks for interactive activities.
The activities should test your participants’ knowledge of the topics covered so far in the training session. These can be as simple as brief quizzes to assess knowledge, or you can take it a step further with interactive games embedded in an online training program.
By developing a more interactive, user-driven training experience, you create an environment that engages your audience. When your employees are fully immersed in what they are doing, they learn more and retain more information.
