Online Training Q&A

Online training is more common than ever before with more and more companies offering training digitally and nearly every college and university offering fully online courses. But like everything new, there are skeptics – those who think online training isn’t effective, doesn’t engage learners, and doesn’t lend itself to knowledge retention.

So how do you decide whether or not online training is right for you and your employees? Here are some of the most common questions we get about online training – from making the jump to ensuring no one cheats.

How expensive is online training? (we get this one a lot)

Online training can be as expensive as you want – or need – it to be. But it can also easily fit into your budget, especially with a cost-effective annual training subscription.

Training is available a la carte (so it’s there when you need it) and individual courses range from $10 to $15 per course per person. If you need one course right this second, it can cost you as little as $10. If you have 100 employees, all of whom need one course right away, you’re looking at $1,000 for immediate gratification. Or, like we said earlier, consider an annual subscription (more on this later).

Does online training really work?

Approximately 77% of U.S. companies offer web-based training to their employees – and that alone tells us that it works.

What is an annual subscription and how do I get one?

With an annual online training subscription, your employees will have unlimited access to our complete training catalog. With the subscription, employees can take as many courses as they need, all for one reduced flat rate. With a lower per-employee training cost, a training subscription is a great way to offset the cost of employee turnover and keep your staff up to date on all their training.

How do I prevent someone else from taking the test for my employee?

Just like during in-house training, we can’t prevent cheating 100% but we have implemented a number of ways to discourage it. For example, our test questions are randomized so even if two people are sitting next to each other taking the same test, their tests won’t be exactly the same. In some cases, the answers options are also randomized so even if two people are looking at the same test question, the possible answers will be in a different order.

Can I customize the training?

Yes! We can create training to meet any specifications. Content can be updated as necessary, whenever policies or regulations get changed. We can even brand your training with your company’s logo and color scheme.

I want to put my in-house training online. (Doesn’t everyone?)

No problem – just give us the content you’re currently teaching in-person and we’ll convert it to an online course. We can add graphics, voiceover, and a test – we’ll create it to meet your needs and work with you every step of the way. Nothing gets published until you give us final approval.

Can I see my employees’ training records?

Our learning management system (LMS) lets you see pretty much everything. From enrollment date to completion date, test scores to actual test answers, you’ll have complete access to your employees’ training records. You’ll be able to look up individual employees or run reports on everyone at once. There are so many reports and filters to choose from, you’ll get more information than you could ever need.

What if I don’t have a computer at home?

All training material can be accessed on any device with internet access (including smartphones and tablets) so you don’t have to have a computer at home to access your training courses. You might also consider visiting your public library or a public cybercafé.

How long are the courses?

Most of the courses in our catalog are approximately one hour long, including the course materials and the post-test. The amount of time may vary per person but about an hour is a safe bet.

What if I forget my password?

If, like the rest of us, you forget your password, it’s really simple to reset it. You just click the Forgot Password? link on the log-in page and re-set your password. Or you can call or email us (844-756-7500 or info@yourtrainingprovider.com) and we’ll change your password for you.

What about people who need extra help?

Our customer support professionals are available to answer any questions that arise. Customer support can be reached at 844-756-7500 or info@yourtrainingprovider.com But rest assured, the training process is user-friendly and most people get the hang of it quickly.

Are your courses approved?

We have various approvals from different states, different associations, and different fields of study.

For example, our senior care catalog has been approved by the Office of Health Care Quality (OHCQ) in Maryland and all the courses on our Florida catalog are approved by the Florida Board of Nursing and the Florida Board of Nursing Home Administrators. We also have a number of courses approved by NAB/NCERS for continuing education.

For more information about our approvals, please call 844-756-7500.

How do I get started?

Getting started is easy – if you want to take any courses right this second, just go to our catalog, pick your courses, pay, and start training.

If you want a subscription for your company, just give us a call at 844-756-7500 and we’ll get everything set up right away.

After that, your employees can start training immediately – you don’t need to download any software or do anything else.

Now, our question to you: what are you waiting for?
