If you’ve taken online training courses, you’ve probably noticed when you’re taking a bad one. You can almost immediately notice bad online training because it’s boring, text-heavy, and full of errors. But when you take a good online training course, you probably don’t notice because you are able to easily focus on the content, and not production errors – because there aren’t any! Anyone can slap together a training – but what goes into a good online training course?
Would you want to watch a historical documentary if it was produced by people who knew nothing about that subject or had no credibility? Of course not! So why would you want to take a training that was made by people who don’t know what they’re talking about? A good training course is written by professionals and subject experts to ensure the information provided is accurate and relevant to your job. You don’t want to work in your career with information that is outdated or flat out wrong!
No one wants to stare at a wall of text to learn – your eyes can get lost – or confused – in the sea of black and white text! You want breaks in the text and white space to give your eyes a chance to not have to focus. The first round of quality checking ensures that the information presented is where it belongs, makes sense, and is not rough for the eye to focus on.
Images and interactives not only help break up the text, but at times they can provide relevant information and reinforce what the training is teaching.
Also how can you tell if the training is actually working? You wouldn’t want to take an exam not knowing if you understand the content – that’s why a good online training has interactive activities! If there are interactives here and there during the lesson, then you can assess your knowledge as you go so you can go back and review if need be. You will be fully prepared for the post-test as soon as you finish viewing the training.
You can’t fully test your knowledge without an actual test. Mentioned above, interactives are included during the training, but they aren’t enough to ensure the learner fully understands the content. That’s why we make quizzes based off of the information in the training to make sure the learner was able to comprehend and understand the information presented.
Do you find it easier to learn if someone is saying the information instead of you just reading paragraph after paragraph after paragraph? An effective training will have voiceover that reiterates what is on screen. This not only reinforces the text, but it also benefits different learning styles!
Once all of this is complete, we bring everything together in a learning management system (LMS). An LMS is an online host that holds every aspect of a training course. You can access the courses, tests, reports, certificates, and user profile all from one place! It’s convenient and easy to navigate. LMS’s make online learning much, much easier.
Wait – didn’t we already perform a quality check? We did! And we always do another once everything is together. We want to make sure the course runs smoothly and error-free so the learner will have the most effective training possible.
After all of that, we publish the course online so learners can advance even further in their career. You don’t have to suffer and just sit through a boring lecture, PowerPoint, or reading. You just need to log in and hit “start.”
Stop struggling with boring lessons. Instead, invest your career knowledge in good online training. Want to check out some of our courses? Take a look at our catalog and go even further in your career.
