Hospice
Medicare's hospice Conditions of Participation, 42 CFR Part 418, set orientation for staff who have patient and family contact and annual in-service training for hospice aides. The TES pathway organizes that content and keeps the training record. It does not take the place of your registered nurse.
Orientation content includes the hospice philosophy and the Medicare Hospice Benefit, the interdisciplinary group, the Conditions of Participation, patient rights and advance directives (418.52), emergency preparedness (418.113), and infection control (418.60).
Annual in-service content supports the at-least-12-hours-per-12-month requirement for hospice aides in 418.76(d), with topics such as physical care, emotional and developmental needs, communication, abuse and neglect, grief and bereavement, interdisciplinary communication, and QAPI.
The pathway supplies the in-service content and the written training record 418.100(g) expects a hospice to maintain. It does not discharge 418.76(d) on its own. In-service training must be supervised by a registered nurse, and the aide competency evaluation under 418.76(c) is performed by a registered nurse, with some skills observed on a patient or pseudo-patient. TES tracks those as external evidence.
No accreditation, approval, or continuing-education credit is claimed for this coursework.
